Caves near Canberra require a vast array of skills and equipment. While some equipment is required for all caves, vertical caves require more specialized devices. Members can loan equipment initially.
Helmet: Protects the head when knocked or from falling objects. Hard shell preferred. (Mandatory for all CSS trips)
Headtorch/Headlamp: Usually attached to your helmet. Ideally carry 3 independent light sources plus spare batteries. (Mandatory)
Overalls/Coveralls: To protect your body. Cotton/polyester for dry caves, Cordura for wet caving. (Mostly mandatory)
Shoes/Boots: Preferably non-slip soles. (Mandatory)
Gloves: Protect hands from cuts, abrasions, and provide grip. (Optional)
